Tucson - best hikes & top things to do

TUCSON, AZ

Nine nights in Tucson ... done, just like that!

Here's a quick summary of what I did ...

Hiking

Bridal Wreath Falls Trail in Saguaro National Park East

The Big Loop at Chiricahua National Monument

Touring

Eating

El Charro Cafe - the nation's oldest Mexican restaurant in continuous operation by the same family

Falora - wood-baked Napoli pizza, artisan & hearty greens

The Screamery - hand-crafted ice cream

Eat In - the rest of the week, we ate in - grilled chicken, grilled steaks, and salads prepared by yet undiscovered chefs, Deb and Shana

Sleeping

Deb and I split an Airbnb. It was adorable and perfect for the two of us to work remotely. Sunny house with plenty of space, a grill, a washer/dryer, and easy parking. Yes, those are bars on the windows. Yes, there is also a chain-link fence around the property. Yes, I was concerned too. Yes, it turned out to be great.

Things On My List I Didn't Get Around To

Here are some items on my list that I didn't get around to doing. Sharing because you might be interested in checking them out when you're in Tucson:

Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum - don't let the name fool you. It's actually an outdoor zoo.

Kitt Peak National Observatory - closed due to COVID

Mount Lemmon Scenic Byway - scenic drive in the Santa Catalina Range

Bisbee, AZ - former copper-mining town turned arts scene, 1.5 hours SE of Tucson

Tombstone, AZ - town known for its Wild West history, 1.25 hours SE of Tucson

Several hikes - you can explore for yourself on AllTrails

That's a wrap, Tucson!

Next stop: Sedona / Flagstaff. See you there!
