Chapel of the Holy Cross

SEDONA, AZ

The Chapel of the Holy Cross is a Roman Catholic chapel built into a butte in Sedona. It was completed in 1957.

The inside of the chapel is small, but stunning. The crucifix (pictured below) is 90 feet tall. Ninety. Feet. The picture doesn't do justice to how much it absolutely commands your attention when you enter the chapel. I love how the natural lighting reflects off Jesus' eyes, and it feels as though he is actually there, gazing down upon the congregation.

Unfortunately, they no longer hold mass here, but on Mondays, there is a 5:00 pm prayer service with song and scripture, which I attended. It wasn't until halfway through the service that I was able to stop studying to interior of the chapel to actually notice the stunning view through the windows.

Never miss a new post.
